History: Celti lived in an advanced city with his family on a planet called At'ala'ana. The creatures there, called Malfa'at'na, were kind with a telepathic link to one another. Do harm to one and you have angered them all. This telepathic ability brought  peace to the planet for visitors and natives alike. The Malfa'at'na policed everyone that came and went, keeping order and safety in towns and the far reaches of the planet's core; which is made of a molten magma sphere and a thin layer of metallic permafrost. This perpetually peaceful environment heavily defined Celti's sense of right and wrong. Unfortunately, the Malfa'at'na bred a world of ignorance and innocence that devastates those who leave.

Despite living in a almost true utopia, Celti longed to see space as his parents had, but being the middle child of three left him to his own devices more often than not. Still, he wanted to try living in space. Thankfully his parents had a tradition of sending their children to their home system where relatives lived to give them a different perspective on life. When the time comes  Celti leaves with a peaceful heart; content and ready for the journey ahead. The young browbird's family buys a ticked on a School and Celti takes a Minnow through warp space to the farthest inhabited planet two solar systems away. He never thinks about that health waver he signs. He never thinks about looking back at his beautiful home planet. He just thinks about growing as a person. Naturally, on the way to what he hopes is one of many destinations, things go wrong.

Space flight is a terribly touchy beast. It has particular wants and needs to keep it alive and healthy. Just like a bird, if things are not taken care of there are terrible consequence. Traveling through space is somewhat different for each species in the universe. Some don't require a space ship, like a Minnow, to travel to and from one planet to another; although it might not be fast and take years. But most do need ships and they are hard to keep in prime condition. Space is a harsh place with many different obstacles in the way. Flying faster than a Skipper can get you in trouble, thus there are Flight Masters who guide fast moving ships from one place to another on scheduled times. The space ships from At'ala'ana are small silvery pod like ships meant for great speed and maneuverability... not necessarily to stop. The delicate machinery inside is hard to protect while maintaining high speed design elements. Minnows travel in medium sized groups, clustered together to benefit from the current created by the Flight Master's ship, which is always in the lead.

It just so happens that the Minnow ahead of Celti loses a heat panel (deigned to help re-entry into a planet's air space.) It flings past other Minnows and strikes hard at Celti's hull just over the main motherboard. The motherboard is programed to take him through hyper space safely by following a beacon from the lead ship and sensing the proximity of the other Minnows. Celti's malfunctions and sends him careening off course and into what his planet calls "uncharted waters;" a blank space in the cosmic map of the planets, just on the outlines of nearly discovered space. The lead ship of the School realizes Celti is gone far to late to help him. There's no telling where he has ended up and the Flight Master has other passengers to take care of. Sometimes space is a cruel thing and it looks like it has claimed another into her depths. But Celti is very much alive. He has no idea where he's headed let along that he's being carried off into uncharted waters.

The ride stuns him, leaving him floating in his own mind for a few hours. After being hurtled through space at a rapid spin, the young browbird's ship stops in a solar system not unlike his home planet's. The Minnow takes him to the nearest planet with a mass of life signs on it as a safety subroutine. When Celti comes too, he is descending into a new planet's air space just below the clouds ...

The planet is verdant with small expanses of blue water here and there. The largest two are the size of small oceans and are surrounded with lush vegetation. There is a crescent shaped desert off to the right of the first large expanse of water. It curves off into the distance, points slipping around the horizon. The golden sand shines beautifully as the first rays of light from two suns peaks from around the curve of the planet. The water takes up the same shine and blinds Celti for a moment as he stairs open eyed at the practically untouched planet. He's low enough to where he can see the individual tree like plants that cathedral clearings here and there. The planet has a majesty that attracts Celti and, despite squinting, sees plenty enough to impress him.

As he looks around in innocent wonder from the descending ship's cockpit window he spots movement down below. A bipedal creature has snuck it's way across a random clearing near his ship. The clearing is larger than the rest and looks like it once had the tree like plants living in it. They were obviously cut down on purpose.

So someone is here! Celti breaths deep and rests a hand over his chest, feeling the exposed fluff from between the front of his robin's egg and gold thread tunic.

'Thank the stars! I was beginning to worry that there was no one here.' Again he sighs in relief. This whole experience had been far more then he bargained for. 'These people must live underground like the Marak do, thus no buildings above ground.' He needs to get down there fast before that person disappears!

Celti looks back at the controls. They're complicated and he can barely remember which one is the emergency landing button. It's behind a plastic cap so that the button does not accidentally get pressed. The peach bird tries to open it only to find... it's stuck. Just his luck. He must have banged it when he was flung around in the cockpit.
This was frustrating and hard on his nerves. Why couldn't things just go right? Why couldn't it just be like in the stories Silvwyrn told him about? She was so good at these kind of things, finding solutions to silly things like this. He shouldn't have left so suddenly. He should have taken her with him...

Tiny claws fish around the edge of the cap, trying to pry it off from the console or find the latch to tease at. Either way, anything was better than the alternative; which was waiting for the blasted ship to run out of power or go into idle mode where it would sink even lower to the ground really, REALLY slowly.

"You can do this. There's nothing to fear but fear itself."

Taking a deep breath Celti calmed himself and remembered his teachings. His parents were adamant that he get along with everyone and everything that came to At'ala'ana so that the special inhabitants would not frown on their species. Why they would judge all browbirds on the actions of his little family was beyond him but it was not an impossibility. Celti respected his parents' wishes and tried his best to conduct himself accordingly. Being a middle hatchling was great practice for that.

As he's harassing the cap he takes notice of a another creature emerging from the line of trees. They are looking around and seem to be nervous, leaning near the first one. Were they in trouble? Leaning to the side of the ship Celti pounds on the reinforced glass. It was a long shot but he could try calling to them. He screams as loud as he can, belting out "I'm here! HEY! UP HERE!" But the ship's glass is too thick. The creatures don't hear or see him. The silvery under body of the ship reflecting the sky and casting a shadow off into the depths of the tree making him veritably invisible to anyone not looking up. If only the creatures would do just that!

But the creatures are suddenly preoccupied with each other. They are posturing... doing something with their hands. And then just as fast as Celti can blink one of them drops to the emerald ground like a rag doll.

It's only when a hundred bodies rush from either side of the trees that Celti realized this is a fight. The two in the middle were just the opening pitch.

Two massive opposing sides meet in the middle of the clearing, a clash of bodies that impacts through the throng being created. There's so much movement that Celti has a hard time differentiating one from another. They're varying shades of green so that doesn't help against the green background. Eventually the creatures thin out, some running away and others falling at the feet of others. Celti's eyes widen in horror. One creature is falling at the hands of another, the life choking out of them! He can't believe what he's seeing! But then, there! There is another doing the same thing! No matter where he looks no mater how far he whips his head around he sees nothing but death. He's becoming sick to his stomach and he holds a hand over his lower face. The creatures fall at each others' necks like starving men do food and water. Was there any sides being take or was this a hellish free for all!? The young browbird had never seen anything like this. He's holding his breath and he doesn't know it. How could people do this!? Every life that hits the ground makes his heart beat faster and he finally takes a breath, only to start hyperventilating. The young browbird feels a scream bubbling up in his throat, a cry to stop the pain these people were inadvertently inflicting on him with their actions.

He finally snaps and goes hysterical.

Celti returns to what he was doing and yanks at the cap even harder. If he landed the ship in the middle of all the fighting they would have to part and maybe, just maybe, the attacks will stop! This was obviously not a advanced civilization! They looked well clothed, but their actions were barbaric! No advanced species would turn on each other like this! Normally, once galactic races were revealed to a new advanced species, the new species would band together against the unknown. Wars usually stopped, debates happened and alliances were made. None of those things seemed to be present here.  It was all so disgusting!

Tears cascade down Celti's face now. He pleads a mantra "Stop! Please, all of you!" under his breath as he works harder and harder to free the cap from the dashboard. It feels like an eternity has passed but finally the lid pops free and he smashes down the button. The ship responds immediately whistling through the air as it descends at a rapid pace only to slow down at the last second before impact.

Down below the war cries drown out the descending ship but the sudden swift advance of a large shadow directly over head sends some scurrying. Others are so lost in their blood lust they do not stop to think about anything else but finishing what they started.

Once Celti touches down he is in a flurry of movement, so much so, that he doesn't know what happened next. But he's up and running on the ground away from the ship and careening towards the nearest downed creature. Towering high above its head is another pale green creature caught in blood lust, readying to strike the first down once and for all.

But Celti is faster!

The creature is surprised when someone interferes. In fact all the creatures have stopped what they're doing for the most part and are watching him now. The one standing above him is particularly stunned but seems to recover quickly, not caring that this strange being has just descended in a ship. Quick as a snake it strikes out scaring Celti who screams in fright... but his cry doesn't sound like it normally does.

Celti's scream is higher pitched than normal, as if he had drank a bit of helium from a balloon; not much but enough to where he notices. In fact he sounds younger than he really is. Second of all he notices that the sound is much loader than normal. It whistles in his ears and vibrates his throat muscles beyond his vocal cords. It was like the air was rich in oxygen and his lungs were larger than the atmosphere had  allowed to grow natively, meaning more power behind his voice. But all this flashed in his mind's eye quickly and he could not grasp the information for more than a second.

The reaction to the sound he makes in instantaneous. All the creatures, including the one underneath him, begin to sag. Some dropped to the ground and others stagger away in a daze while they clutch their head. However, others look like they are happy, smiling as if they had not just been fighting for their lives.

Things finally take their tole on Celti. His vision is dimming and he is forced to close his eyes here. A spark of panic ignites in his chest but it is smothered out by the shadows in his eyes. The young white and peach browbird hits the ground, slumped next to the creature he tried to save. In a distant dream Celti hears someone walking towards him. A hush swallows an invisible crowd as it makes it's way through the circle of bodies. This person kneels down and places a hand on white downy hair curving the angle of its palm to cup his cheek. Celti can only turn his eyes upwards and try to see who is there. Are they here to help him? Help the creature he tried to save?

"I am Bal..."

The rest is history. With his strange looks Celti is thought of as a otherworldly being... which is true but not in the way they think. He is taken to the capital of the Tuwun and meets with the elders there. He learns they have a sort of democracy set up but with no separation of church and state. They are a primitive species although they have the trappings of a civilised one and there is a jarring dichotomy in their actions and technological prowess.

The Hantz are the remnants of a vast civilization that met a cataclysmic end with little survivors. Those survivors forged two camps. One was the Tuwun. The other, the Bulash. They had been fighting one another for as long as the new civilizations could remember. Things were becoming desperate. What were they fighting over?

Water.

The root systems of the planet were far under the soil meaning that's where the water aquifers were. Most of the water was underground and the two 'seas' that Celti had been so taken with were in fact the only bodies of fresh water available to the inhabitants. Most animals and insects got their water from their prey and needed very little to begin with. But the Hantz needed far more than what they got from plants and animals. With smaller watering holes becoming a scarcity drinking rights were even more of an issue than before. Thus the all out fighting over who could control the fresh water. Things had been degenerating into complete bedlam and the scholars who knew about their previous incarnation as a massive civilization feared the same cataclysmic fate would happen a second time.

And then "the blessed one came down." Unknowingly Celti had stunned the biggest fight that the Hantz had had in their recent history. It had extended well into the woods and beyond the browbird's sight. The casualty count was in the thousands and the fight had lasted only ruffly five minutes. Completely mystified by his appearance on the battle field they listen to anything the ignorant browbird has to say. He innocently tell them everything he knows trying his hardest to foster the same peace and tranquility he had on his home planet.

Celti didn't know what was brewing around him. The more he helped the more influence he gave the Tuwun. They lorded him over the Bulash and twisted Celti's view of the situation in order to keep him continually helping them. With all of Celti's advanced knowledge, which was nothing compared to his planet's top mathematicians and theorists, and insight using the Dream aspect he is heralded as a demi god and high priest to their main god, Vamae. Even though Celti tries his hardest to correct them the Hantz do not listen. He is secluded and kept as a precious trophy.

Over time the Tuwun absorb the Bulash, creating one giant civilization once more. They revere Celti, plain as he is for a browbird, as some special being. His longevity makes him seem immortal to the short lived Hantz. He sees several generations come and go in just two browbird years. His existence becomes an every day fact of life and he is used for various tasks such as blessings and political maneuvers. He has no say in his life anymore.

Over time he grows distant from his original views and ideals. Finding that the world he once lived in has done him more harm than good. On some level Celti did not recognize that the conflict he dropped into would effect him at all and blindly ran into the situation. His parents did not teach him that different cultures had different ways of expressing themselves and as terrible as it was for the Hantz to be fighting, war was something that could sometimes not be avoided. There would always be fighting, something he was unaccustomed to at all, no matter where you went. Even on his own home planet there had been fighting but a long, long time ago. That was the whole reason his parents decided to live on At'ala'na in the first place. That planet had gone through its full birthing pains and emerged a prosperous civilization governed by peaceful inhabitants and protected by the Galactic Federation.

Celti innocently thought he could stop what he had no control over.

"Careful, little bird so white,

darker things come cross thy sight

Inner things do squirm and fight

bolder still to bring them might."
